10 Things To Keep In Your Car For Winter Driving Safety

You're driving along happily singing to your favorite tune on your favorite Christian radio station, when white crystals begin drifting from the sky. The traffic in front of you is slowing. Now you're stuck on the highway in the snow that's rapidly piling up around you.

Driving during winter weather holds an entirely different set of dangerous scenarios than driving during summer or cooler weather.  When driving during cold weather, ice or snow, there is a danger of becoming stuck or stranded.  At very least, the cold temperatures put added stress on vehicles' engines, batteries, tires and exposed parts.  There is also high potential of being caught in traffic jams from inclement weather conditions.  When this happens, you'll want to make sure you're prepared by continuously keeping certain items in your car throughout winter months.

You can help send music to MIWI

Last year after many disappointments attempting to make becoming a worship leader a part to full-time career, John picked himself up from the bootstraps. Instead of accepting defeat and discouragement, he chose to re-invent the performance side of his life. Though, he had longed to take this in the direction of leading a congregation in worship to our Lord and Savior every weekend. He decided to use the musical talent God had given him and perform musical entertainment in nursing homes and retirement centers to brighten the days of those who may otherwise have very little "sunshine" in their days.

Last summer, John scheduled a few retirement centers and nursing homes for performances in Wisconsin. The family came along, and we enjoyed a working vacation. The trip was so successful that we have begun to book jobs In WI for next summer. In fact, we have decided to not only perform in WI this summer but up the coast of MI and Upper MI as well. We are calling this our MIWI tour. This is all very exciting, but the truth is that many of these homes and centers where John will be performing do not have he funds to pay for travel expenses. So, we are presenting this to our friends and family to raise some funds to cover the transportation end of this tour.

To do this, we have decided to offer a fundraiser. The company we have chosen to do this is a Christian-owned, debt-free company that offers candles, baking mixes, gift wrap, books and items for tweens/teens. They are called "Celebrating Home."

Take a look at what they offer, and let me know what you would like to order. Because the company is debt-free, they do not encourage the use of credit cards and ask that the items be paid for by check or cash. So, to make it convenient for you - When you place your order, send me your Paypal email address where I can send you an invoice for the purchase price. If you are not in the O'Fallon area, also add $5.00 to your order so I can ship it to you when it arrives.

The fundraiser will close on January 15, and your items should arrive for me to deliver them to you 9 days later. So, you should receive all of your order by the end of January - In time for Valentine's Day!

Take a look at what the company offers. Then, email me at: Joyfulsoundsdj@juno.com with your order! Please put FUNDRAISER IN THE SUBJECT LINE - THANKS for all your help!!!!!!

Gingerbread Christmas traditions

It's time to put on some Christmas music and enjoy some gingerbread house decorating!
In America, making gingerbread houses are a Christmas tradition. Some households may not even feel as though the holiday is complete without the building and decorating of a gingerbread house. They come in all forms and sizes from a simple house made out of gingerbread look-alike, Graham crackers which are "glued" against a small milk carton with frosting to several stories tall elaborate castles and other designs that are often designed by master chefs and pastry artists and displayed in shopping malls.  Some of these intricate designed houses are even auctioned off for chari... Holidays with the family should be joyful - If they're not heres help!

Thanksgiving and Christmas are two holidays when families come together to celebrate.  Family is a place where you grow up.  Family should be a safe haven where you can be yourself.  Many look forward to seeing relatives they probably don't often get to visit.  It' often a very pleasant time of growing and relating.  But, not always!  Many families have at least one hot button topic or situation that tends to pop up within every holiday gathering.  Because family is a place where you grow up, with family comes a lifetime of memories.  Some of these memor... Roll over, Beethoven there's a new station in town 99.1 JOY fm

This morning was monumental for the St. Louis area. JOY fm is now broadcasting from a stronger signal on what used to be St. Louis' Classic Music station KFUO.

As Joyful Sounds Christian DJ Service, I used to support WCBW (which was the commercial Christian music station from 1980-1997) by way of advertising, and I wanted to tell you a story. Like other listeners have mentioned, I listened to and actually recorded the last 45 minutes of the old broadcast. I've been honored and blessed simply by the order of rotation, my advertisement was played as the last advertisement you ever played on WCBW. Then it was just but a few moments later when it was hip hop - wow what a difference. I'm so excited and praising God that you're back on the air with a strong signal to reach more people in our area to God be the glory!

Life of the party!

I heard a great saying that I thought fit with the way I conduct and desire my business to run. It goes like this:

It's not about being the life of the party -
It's about the life we bring to the party!

That life with Joyful Sounds would be the Light of the World, the Living Waters - The Life - Jesus!

Fun reception game for newlyweds

Recently, when I DJ'd a wedding reception, I was reminded of a really fun game to play with the newlyweds. The couple sits back to back, the groom holding one of the bride's shoes & the bride holding one of the groom's shoes. When asked a series of questions (chosen by the DJ, and I would chose questions that would be guest-friendly), the bride & groom raise the appropriate shoe.

Of course, there is more detail to this game - Make sure you ask about it when planning your reception.

Oh Happy Day for Christians at the Grammy's

Though the Grammy's seem to side step some awards, including the Christian "gospel" music awards; some Christian artists came away with a Grammy on Sunday night.

The man can also play guitar

John Scott is not only a Disc Jockey. His first musical love grew out of learning to play the saxophone at an early age when his dad requested that he learn to play "a real instrument" after John had begged for a guitar.

So, John learned the saxophone & quickly learned the guitar as well.

What is Joyful Sounds Christian DJ Service?

Joyful Sounds is St. Louis' premier Christian Disc Jockey Service, starting in 1991.

Joyful Sounds began when owner, John Scott, realized there was a need to have good clean fun at wedding receptions without offensive music. After all, most receptions have visitors that span the generations. And, who wants to offend Grandma?

Still, John Scott has gained the experience necessary to tailor-make every reception leaving the bride and the groom happy and having a good time.

Why is the name "Christian" in your name? Do you play Christian music at every event?
Joyful Sounds was established by John Scott, who is not only Christian in name but in character and lifestyle as well. He believes that proclaiming to be a Christian will mean that it is reflected in terms of a joyful celebration. After all, true joy comes from life Himself!

It is your reception, and you do not have to have anything played that you don't want to hear. But, it is John's desire to glorify Christ in everything he puts his hands to - Whether that means a 100% Christian music background or danceable event to a dancing party with a mix of upbeat Christian music with lyrically tasteful music mixed in. The idea is to have a party your guests will tell their friends about, not wake up the next morning wishing they hadn't attended. The ultimate idea is to bring true joy and celebration to any event.
