John Scott Musician Hits The Recording Studio

It's almost done! I have spent the better part of a week or more using every spare moment I have to record some songs. The purpose of this recording is to simply put together a sample CD I can send to places where I hope to perform. But, the end result will also, hopefully, be a CD I can release and sell to any who might want to hear my music.

The current CD consists of already existing songs, nothing original. However, I have a group of songs which I have personally written that I hope to lay down on some tracks soon.

If you're interested, keep watch on my blog and Website for MP3 samples of this recent undertaking. And, you'll be the first to know when I get the originals onto a CD for release.

Oscars want you to Twitter and Facebook during Academy Awards

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards takes place on Sunday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m. on ABC. There will be many Oscars handed out during the night. But, the advertisers of this event want you to do more than simply watch the show. Apparently, they want to see fan interaction. An average commercial costs more than $1 Million to air during the award ceremony. The latest trend in advertising, however, is more than just telling the consumer what to buy. It involves consumer interaction. While the ads are being aired, the marketing teams will be watching your activity on Twitter and Facebook to see what is welcomed and what is flopping. You might even be asked to vote on fashion trends and more to give your opinion in the marketing process.

Could add a twist of excitement to an otherwise very trendy and secular show which seemingly has not been given a great deal of press for the upcoming Awards. You can read more here, from the Wall Street Journal!

What Am I Doing Trying To Record An Album - I Should Write A Comedy Show

Sitting down and trying to record an album, otherwise known as a CD or even a cassette tape would make me happy after all the silly little interruptions that have come up to keep me from success.  To explain would be tedious as most of the delays and problems come from silly issues that aren't even tangible.

For starters, I laid down some tracks on an old cassette tape.  I thought that would be the simplest and quickest way to do this.  I was wrong!  The tape garbled.  The tape got stuck inside a broken tape deck.  The tape deck is now headed for a recycling facility.  I then chose to use a CD.  I put the songs onto the CD and lost the CD.  This is just the beginning of silly little things keeping me from finishing this simple album.

When I am finished, perhaps I will be able to sell it.  Perhaps no one will care.  But, at least I'll know it will be the result of a lot of blood, sweat and tears and none of it having to do with the music but the process.

Shoveling Snow? Stay Safe!

Had to shovel out of snow this week. Had to de-ice my car doors, car windshield, etc. Had to dig out of what the snow plow left behind making it so I couldn't leave my driveway. Had to do all this to go play music and to teach guitar to students. I didn't drive in the ice. But, I did shovel, shovel, shovel. When I did so, I was very much aware of the dangers and that there are safety techniques to prevent injuries.
